Oreo

Oreo

This is Steve and Shannon's bunny, Oreo.

Oreo, or The Big 'O' as we call her was adopted from the Humane Society of Greater Dayton in February of 2007. We call her our thousand dollar bunny because her first couple of months with us were so expensive. No, she didn't really cost us a thousand dollars, but it was pretty close.

We had discovered a warble cyst between her shoulder blades shortly after she came to live with us. The cyst was removed at the same time that she was spayed. Much to our dismay, we learned that Oreo was a persistent wound puller, she even pulled at the glue and then the staples that were used to replace the sutures that she ripped out. At one point, she had completely opened up the incision on her back where the warble cyst used to be.

Ultimately, Oreo wore an e-collar for a total of 6 weeks so her incisions could totally heal.

Now that she's completely recovered, she spends her time snuggling with her bond mate Laslo and chasing the cat. Oreo is an avid hay muncher and cilantro fanatic. She loves to sit on top of her plastic igloo on sunny mornings basking the warmth. She has received many a compliment from online bunny communities about her wonderfully cute ears and super shiny coat.

She's come a long way since she came to stay with us and we love her dearly.
