Our 2009 profit and loss statement
We’re providing our 2009 and profit and loss statement so that interested donors can get an accurate picture of how our organization allocates funds.
You may notice that a large percentage of our expenditures goes to medical treatment. Bunnies are sometimes surrendered to the shelter that may be in need of some sort of medical aid. Typically, these conditions can be anything from fur mites to ear infections to tooth abscesses. We’ve found that by spending a relatively small amount of money, bunnies who otherwise risk being euthanized, can be transformed into healthy, adoptable companions. So, by making a donation to us, you are directly participating in saving the life of a bunny.
Our other significant expenditure in 2009 was the purchase of roomy condos for the bunnies to live in during their sojourn at the Humane Society. Being that no animal really enjoys living at a shelter, we feel it is important for us to make their stay as comfortable as possible. The condos that we selected provide a living area of 4’ by 2’ by 2’. This is enough room for a bunny to make a couple of hops and easily turn around, as well as being able to periscope up to survey their surroundings.

Bombshell Bakeshop
Did you know that you can purchase the Dayton Area Rabbit Network’s “DARN Good Cookie” from the Bombshell Bakeshop webstore? A portion of the proceeds from the sale of of this tasty treat goes directly to Dayton Rabbit and you also will be supporting an excellent local business in the process.
The DARN cookie is completely vegan, meaning it contains no egg, dairy, honey or animal by-products. However, once you taste the cookie, you won’t notice the difference. It’s that delicious.
While you’re there, you can also check out some of the other tasty offerings straight from the Bombshell Bakeshop oven.

Club DLM Good Neighbor Program
Every year, Dorothy Lane Market donates thousands of dollars to local charities by way of the Good Neighbor Program. You can help DARN by associating your Club DLM card to our Charity ID number of 726. Thereafter, any purchase you make in the store goes towards our percentage of the $40,000 that DLM intends to donate for 2010. There is more information on this program located on the sign up form.
DARN tee shirts
Once or twice a year, we will make available our excellent DARN tee shirt in exchange for a small donation. These great looking shirts have our logo silkscreened on a quality cotton tee and are typically made available in a number of colors and sizes. Wearing a DARN tee shirt is a great way to get the word out to the other bunny lovers in the Dayton area.
Products and services
Occasionally, we will take advantage of opportunities to provide fun and useful products and services in exchange for a donation. The products will often include fun items like chew toys, treats and cardboard bunny castles. We also offer nail trimming and bunny sitting services as space and time allows.
